Apple's February 2025 launch: iPhone SE 4 and more - what to expect.

Apple has officially announced a product launch event scheduled for Wednesday 19 February 2025.

CEO Tim Cook teased the upcoming event on social media, stating, "Get ready to meet the newest member of the family."

While the announcement is deliberately vague, industry insiders and analysts widely anticipate the unveiling of the fourth-generation iPhone SE.

iPhone SE 4: What to expect.

The iPhone SE series has traditionally offered a budget-friendly alternative within Apple's iPhone lineup, and the upcoming model is expected to bring significant upgrades.

Design and display.

Departing from its predecessors, the iPhone SE 4 is rumoured to feature a 6.1-inch OLED display, eliminating the Home button in favour of Face ID. This design aligns with the aesthetics of recent iPhone models, providing a more modern user experience.

Performance.

The device is expected to be powered by Apple's A18 chip, the same processor found in the iPhone 16 series. This inclusion suggests that the new SE will support Apple Intelligence, enhancing AI-driven functionalities.

Connectivity and charging.

In compliance with recent EU regulations, the iPhone SE 4 is anticipated to adopt a USB-C port, moving away from the traditional Lightning connector. Additionally, MagSafe support is likely, offering users more versatile charging options.

Camera and additional features.

While specific camera details remain under wraps, reports suggest the inclusion of a single rear camera system. The device may also introduce an Action button, similar to that found on the iPhone 15 Pro models, allowing for customisable quick actions.

Pricing.

While UK pricing has not been officially announced, based on current exchange rates and Apple's pricing strategies, the device is projected to be priced between £499 and £549 in the UK.

Potential rebranding.

There is speculation that Apple might rebrand the new iPhone SE as the "iPhone 16E," aligning it more closely with the current flagship series. This move could signify a strategic shift in Apple's product naming conventions, though official confirmation is pending.

Other Apple event rumours.

While the spotlight is on the iPhone SE 4, Apple's 19 February event may also feature additional product updates.

MacBook Air.

Rumours suggest the introduction of new MacBook Air models equipped with the M4 chip, promising enhanced performance and efficiency.

iPad Air and entry-level iPad.

Updated versions of the iPad Air and the base iPad are anticipated, potentially featuring the M3 and A16 Bionic chips, respectively. These upgrades aim to provide users with improved processing power and overall performance.

Conclusion.

Apple's upcoming event is poised to introduce notable additions and enhancements to its product lineup.

The iPhone SE 4, with its modern design and upgraded features, is set to appeal to consumers seeking a balance between affordability and advanced technology.
